12 Days of Christmas :: Try to Relax

For most some of us, the Holiday season can add a little extra stress!  Here are our tricks to try and relax over the next few weeks.

Be Selfish

Schedule some me-time to do what you love to do, even if you only have a few minutes to fit it in. Cut your daily half-hour jog into two 15-minute sessions. Practice a few yoga poses for 10 minutes. Whatever it is, make sure you have some interrupted time every day to do something just for yourself – it’ll give you a much needed break and mood boost before you get back to your to-do list.

Schedule Some Playtime

Relax with a game of backgammon, mahjong, or solitaire. Brain feeling fried? Reboot with sudoku or a crossword puzzle.

Treat Yourself & Take an Hour

Act Like the Kid You Were

Regress.  For a guaranteed mood lift, do whatever it was that gave you joy before teen angst changed your world view. They say “A girl is most connected to her soul, to the things she really loves to do, between the ages of 10 and 13,”. Think of a few things you couldn’t live without when you were that age.  If you can’t recall any particular activities, take a cue from your children. Who cares if it’s age-inappropriate? That’s the point!
