Happy Thanksgiving yall!
With this holiday just a 2 days away…I know, where the heck did November go?! We decided to share some of our Thanksgiving favorites! Both dishes are pretty easy and always a crowd pleaser!
“Webb’s” Favorite :: Corn Casserole
(1) can cream corn
(1) can whole kernel corn (drained )
(1) cup sour cream
(1) stick butter (softened)
(1) box jiffy corn muffin mix
preheat oven 350 , while you are waiting for the oven to pre-heat, mix all ingredients. You’ll want to bake for 45 minutes to an hour, or until the top is a nice golden brown.
“Hall’s” Favorite :: Aunt Oleta’s Dressing
(2) Bags of pre-seasoned bread-crumbs
(1) Stick of butter
(1) medium to large onion
(3-4) Stalks of celery
(2) boxes of Chicken Broth
Dice your onion and celery, you’ll sautee this with the stick of butter (it sounds like a lot, but you need to it for the flavor). In a large bowl, pour in your (2) bags of pre-seasoned bread-crumbs…once your onion and celery are soften and your stick of butter is completely melted, pour over the bread-crumbs. Now…there is no exact science to how Aunt Oleta measured her Chicken Broth, she always said more is better…then your dressing will not dry out… approximatively 1 1/2 to 2 16 oz boxes, just add a little at a time, pour directly over your bread-crumbs, mix until the bread-crumbs are saturated (not soupy). Once you get to this point, put everything into a lightly greased casserole dish (as a side note, the dressing will look sorta mushy, but that’s good!). Cover and bake at 350 for about 40 min, take the foil off and let it bake for another 10-15 min until the top is nice and golden brown.
